Opinions about Tangier?

As I look through the message board, I see I'm not the only one coming to LA for a girls weekend! I've been reviewing past posts and trying to get an idea of good restaurants in the area, but I've heard very little about Tangier. Just wondering if it's any good. I don't know why, but I'm drawn to it. However, with so many good places, I don't want to go there if the food is just not worth it. Is it any good???

The food's ok, and some of the shows are pretty good, but the thing is, some nights it's completely dead and not that fun. I'd go somewhere else. As Chowpatty mentioned, you have lots of good options right near there. I'm loving Little Dom's on the same block.

It's more of a club where food is available than a real restaurant -- fine if you're already going to hear music there, but there's a zillion better places in the vicinity, some in the same block (Little Dom's, Vinoteca Farfalla).

I haven't been there in like 6 to 8 months. I used to go there sometimes to hear certain indie musicians and the last time I was there I got the seafood pasta and I thought it was pretty good. No fancy restaurant good perhaps, but I thought it was good for the price (not cheap, but not expensive either). Sounds like a lukewarm answer, but I did like the food. Looks like they do have music any longer though, so the place might be a little different. For all I know, perhaps the chef is changed too. I haven't kept up with the place. The website as I recall is http://tangierrestaurant.net If you decide to try it, I'd like to know what you think of the food, although I might be in the minority so if you try elsewhere I don't blame you.

They still have music there. (the online calender has been down for awhile, best listings are in the LA Weekly)

I've been here tons of times for music, but haven't actually eaten here, go figure. Food never really looked interesting to me. I would only go here for aforementioned music.

I was there a year ago, and I barely remember anything about the food. I guess it was okay, not terrible, not great. At least it wasn't horribly expensive or anything. But I would suggest you keep looking, if you want someplace memorable.
