Vegan in Anaheim??

is this a contradiction in terms? anything healthy or ethnically interesting near the Honda Center? Going to see Bruce Springsteen and want to eat healthy---but delicious--before. thanks!

I really doubt there is a dedicated vegan restaurant in our fair city, but you are really not that far from Little Saigon, which has several vegan Vietnamese restaurants, the best of which is Au Lac on Brookhurst. Be aware that some of the meat substitutes do contain the whey product -- I am not sure how strict your veganism is.

      Hey DU,

Just read your post on the vegan Ethiopian place in LA. Would you know if Tana (DU's review here: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/435041 ) or maybe Merhaba do a few vegan items? Both are Anaheim-adjacent, though hardly what I'd call "near" the Ponda Center.

I know in general that Ethiopian restaurants are vegetarian friendly. Just don't know the extent of their use of dairy and animal derived items, though.

They both use niter kebbeh, which is spiced clarified butter. You could call and ask if they'll make it without (and without the homemade cheese in the collard greens, which is the only other dairy I can think of). You're more likely to get an affirmative from Tana than from Merhaba.
