Nabisco Chocolate Wafers Where in Santa Monica or LA

Does anyone know where to purchase the Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers? I wanted to try and make the icebox cake for my son and have been to seven stores today with no luck.

It's foreign food, from Canada, so it's usually in that section at some Ralph's and at Bristol Farms

FOUND NABISCO CRACKERS...thanks again everyone - I just walked up to Pavillions AGAIN and found them in the cracker section - inbetween Carrs Crackers and Rosemary/Garlic crackers...who would look for them there. Appreciate all the feedback.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I have asked the managers of these stores and am amazed they simply do not know the merchandise they carry and evidently there is no database they can view to see. They are usually near the ice cream topping.

They always stock them close to the ice cream ... never by the cookies.

Bristol Farms usually always has them. The Pavillions I shop at on Montana and the Vons on Lincoln (both in SM) have them. I've seen them recently.

Always by the rest of the cookies, when I've seen them. I never would have known to look elsewhere.

Thank you for your response. I live near the Montana Pavillions which is the first place I went and that store is just exasperating - no one ever knows what they have. And have you noticed they seem to hire people that seem a tad challenged, I'm not being mean and I think that's great, but no one ever knows where anything is. Best store is the Farms on Montana - best prepared food and I swear by the Butcher, always fresh and high grade meat.

They've been really hard to find for some reason for a number of years. People have been resorting to ordering them from online sources like Amazon and Vermont Country Store - likely at higher prices. Good luck - at least a couple people have found them in CA.

Did you actually ask for them? I'm not being condescending but the reason I ask is because you won't find them with the cookies like you would expect. You will find them where the ice cream cones are in or near the freezer section. Don't ask me why because I don't understand the logic. I did find them once at Von's with the cookies but they were where I just described as well. Maybe because they are used to make an "ice box cake"?

The Bristol Farms in Westchester carries them (as of December 2007, anyway; don't know about today). Try giving them a call.

I'm sure gelsons and pavillions has them.

My ralphs has them - but in a VERY weird place - way away from all the cookies. So, if you go in a store and do not see them - ask the store manager.

Ralphs and Albertsons seems to hide them in weird places. You are correct that the manager is the person to ask because most store clerks don't have a clue what they are ("Ah..wafers? No. We don't have them"). I use to find them with all the ice cream stuff but now.... maybe with the crackers. They are the best wafers for ice cream sandwiches and s'mores. So much chocolate flavor that all you need for s'mores is the marshmallows.
