Mother's day brunch suggestions?

Family going to be in Manhattan for Mother's day and are anxious to go somewhere really nice. Any suggestions for an OrlandoHound? Thanks.

I really love Norma's for brunch, in Le Parker Meridien Hotel. Breakfast/Brunch is ALL they do, and their stuff is TOTALLY over the top. It's not cheap, but it can be done for $40-50 per person including tip/tax. The last time I was there they didn't take reservations, though, which can mean a LONG wait (especially on a day like Mother's Day). It's a beautiful space and a great time, though!

    Recommended dishes:
Brioche French toast with foie gras, asparagus and mushrooms
Chocolate decadence french toast with strawberries
    Waz-za waffle (creme brulee topping)
Any of their smoothies (they will give you a free shot of the flavor of the day)

ETA: Just found out that they do take reservations via Opentable, but not sure how effective they'll be!

Last month I was looking for a special occasion Sunday brunch (Easter) and went to David Burke & Donatella. My husband and I had a wonderful meal there, both meal and service were great. We were originally thinking about Eleven Madison but when we called they were not serving the regular menu that day, they had a pre-fix lunch for $95. They may do something similar on Mother's day, I suggest you call. DB & D also did not have the regular menu that day but the pre-fix was $54.

If I could latch onto this thread I would love some more recommendations...we are looking for anything downtown, same price point as Blue Water Grill but a bit more exciting...any ideas? THX!

You haven't mentioned any budgetary constraints, so I'll recommend Eleven Madison Park, which, as regulars here know, is our favorite NYC restaurant. When we go for brunch, we always indulge in Chef Daniel Humm's French-inspired lunch dishes, which are sensational. However, if you prefer to stay with the breakfast side of the menu, it is excellent. Service is first-rate, and the space -- especially with (sun)light streaming in through the huge windows -- is gorgeous!

That is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered, RGR. Now, that will be for one party, the other party needs something less expensive, but tasty. Possible?

              UCFChad, Definitely possible! :-)

West Bank Cafe would work for those whose budget is more constrained. Although it isn't on the same culinary level as EMP, nevertheless, the food is delicious. I had one of the best quiches ever there. Service is very friendly and capable, the decor is attractive, and tables are nicely-spaced.

Another option is Marseille, a bright, bustling brasserie with very good food.

Thanks, RGR! One huge advantage of living up there is the food. Down here (Orlando) people think Red Lobster is the place to go and I am a native. :(
