Germanic dishes in nearby Connecticut?
Any one know of any great places to visit close to Uconn that have a Germanic influence?

I would second the Student Prince in Springfield and also recommend the Hofbrauhaus in West Springfield. Although they are about an hour from UConn, if you're dying for German food, it would be worth the trip. Also, there is a place called Munich Haus in Chicopee, MA (right off 91) but I haven't been there so I can't vouch for it.

Hey Spicy...The East Side in New Britain, maybe 45 mins from Storrs is the closest I know. Too far?

Hmm..East Side is good for getting some of the popular German beers on tap - but it seemed like East Side was more about entertainment and beer than food. I thought the food was pretty subpar and overpriced. They also have rules against just going and drinking beer - so they sorta have you locked in if you are going for the atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend it for anything serious.

I've never been, but I have heard good things about the Student Prince in Springfield, MA.

the only place i can think of is valled vienna or similar, near sturbridge. it is austrian in style. only went there once, felt like my wallet got drained and the food was not too great. but they did have a hand written bill for me. i know other people are fond of this place so this is the word of only one person.
