Best clam chowder in monterey?
I used to work there on cannery row. one of the restraunts had a cart outside w/ bread bowls and the best clam chowder i have ever had. My friend wants to go there and I don't know what restraunt to tell her to go to. Can anyone help?

The Fish Hopper on Cannery Row has a cart outside with chowder samples - pretty good chowder. Their food is also commendable (awesome filet mignon) and their creme brulee is a perfect finishing point. I love the service at this place.
Down the street, the Chart House has an award winning chowder. Very nice decor. The food is alright, and they prepared a perfect seared Ahi dish for me last time I was there. Most incredible dessert - chocolate lava cake, might even be the highlight of my foodie weekend.

I'm not from Monterey, so I'm not sure of the restaurant you're referring to.. but as for the best clam chowder I've ever had, there are 2 restaurants: Old Fisherman's Grotto on the pier in Monterey and Chili Not Chili in Pacific Grove. The Grotto always provides samples outside their door by their fresh fish stand.
