Dinner at Tavolo in Long Branch tonight

stack_c Apr 3, 2008 02:08 PM

Going to dinner at Tavolo in Long Branch tonight with another couple (their choice) don't see much discussion about it on the boards? Any recommendations for dishes? I'll be sure to report back.

I know this is too late, but I don't think I would make another trip back. Someone else posted, a huge flight of stairs, and the food is mediocre. I just remember being served very cool food, not cold but in the middle of lukewarm to cool. Nothing to rave about either. I also think they are overpriced. I wish it was still Mumford's...miss that place.. :(

I know it's not the same, but you can still enjoy Chris Mumford's food. He serves sit-down breakfast and lunch and limited takeout dinner at the place on Apple Street in Tinton Falls. Also Mrs. Mumford's desserts.

My wife had lunch there yesterday - Mumford's, not Tavolo, and is still raving

After all that we ended up at Dino's just down the street in Ursala Plaza not Tavolo....another Italian place that was on my list to try...unfortunately the over all consensus was that we were dissapointed. However, the staff was very friendly and there were 2 stand out dishes...the lobster risotto with truffle oil and doughnut bread pudding for dessert (sinful)...other than that we were pretty dissapointed.....both the Tuna and pasta dishes were over cooked and the "roasted" beet salad was literally beets out of a can....Still a fan of Jimmy's in AP

stack - Sorry about your meal at Dino's. I could've saved you the time with my review. I think I said the same thing about the beet salad. One of my worst meals of the year.

The food is just ok here but don't bother to order a nice wine at this place as they give you a small water glass to drink it out of. Must tbe some sort of Italian thing I guess. At least this was their MO the last time I went which was about a year ago. Overall the place was not worth a repeat visit...

I was there a couple of months back and I wasn't all that impressed. The prices didn't quite match the quality of the entrees. It's a family friendly place vtt7, so you should be fine with that arrangement. Please note that you need to walk up a big flight of stairs to get to the restaurant.
