La Thai Uptown?
Does anyone have a good review of this place? I was planning to go there for my birthday, and have high hopes because I used to like to hang out there when it was Vaquero's. I wasn't very happy with the Felix's incarnation.
A google search turned up some unflattering reviews. I wonder if I should save the trip for a less special evening?
Has anyone been there? Is it not as nice as the Met Rd location?

My husband and I were regulars at the Metairie Rd. location and loved it. We went to the uptown location about 3 weeks ago, and had great food. He always gets the Pad Thai, and I got some shrimp/asparagus/noodle thing, for an appetizer we had the coconut shrimp. The atmosphere is definately louder and not as intimate as Metairie Road, but for a B'day, it would probably be fun.
IMHO The big difference is that on Metairie Road, it was more of a "white tablecloth" place, but now it is geared more to the masses.›1 Reply-

I think it is still a "white tablecloth' type place, especially compared to rest of the Thai restaurants in New Orleans (except maybe Basil Leaf).
I went right before Mardi Gras. The food was really good, but the service was pretty haphazard. I would probably go to Sukho Thai or Basil Leaf if I wanted Thai again.

Sorry, I don't have a good one. Been twice in the past two months (including just last week) and both were very unappealing. I wrote the first one off to start-up pains, but it was actually worse (food-wise) the second time. I won't be back. I haven't been to the Metairie location so can't help you there. It's too bad, because we need a decent Thai place in that area. That building seems to be cursed! I like Sukhothai and Basil Leaf when I need my fix.
