wow, i'm happy that padma lakshmi has found a niche hosting top chef. i don't hate good looking women. but is this the direction the foundation really wants to take? she has a 'personal interest in food' they say. i guess more press for the deserving chefs is a good thing.

Hey, who not. Chefs nowadays are not just content with toiling in the kitchen anonymously anymore: they're celebrichefs. Seems like a natural progression of things. I'm waiting for the Mario Batali movie anyday now.

Lucky chef. How does he have the energy to cook?

Oh yes she does. I never thought much of her acting but her other...attributes are another matter.

51 is not twice 28, but close enough.

Thanks Ruth. I wouldn't even know where to find that.

            <She is actually dating/living with a chef.> Aaaaah! I see! (NOT!)

sounds like the Beard folks are grasping at straws. They charge so much for admission to this show, I guess they figure they have to go for some kind of big name, but isn't she kinda second fiddle to someone like Sarah Jessica Parker? Oh, that's right... Matthew Broderick is not a chef....

Because of her relationship with a chef she has been involved in several cooking award shows, etc.

You know she was in the movie Porky's. I think it was an Italian film about procuitto makers.

Am I missing something here? What is her connection to food? <'personal interest in food'> ???? doesn't everyone have that? Maybe she's related to James Beard??????

How bizarre! I can just imagine Julia, Jim and Peter Kump looking at each other and shrugging their shoulders.......

I've seen her host a charity event and she is quite engaging. I loved her character on SATC and she seems to have a lot of the same traits in her real life. I imagine she'll have many of the attendees in the palm of her hand by the end of the ceremony. I also imagine this will serve her chef beau well.
