<content>My husband can't eat dairy, but we both love pizza. He always orders pizza without cheese. I've been on the lookout for a good place in the San Gabriel Valley that has soy cheese pizza. The only place we've gone to that has had a decent soy pie has been in Northern California near Palo Alto! Your suggestions are welcome.</content>

<content>The only place I know of is not in SGV. It's Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park. You can't get a whole pie, but one slice is enough for two, easily. Especially on Fridays.</content>

<content>Z Pizza does a decent one. There's also a pizza place on Fairfax near Cantor's that does a decent one too. Blanking out on the name, but its pretty famous and delivers almost 24 hours a day, so I am sure someone on the board will chime in.

Also, Orean's in Pasadena does a tostada-y type of thing that they call a pizza. </content>

<content>Soy cheese is pretty gross, and I say this as a vegan for 15 years. The non-vegan ones (with casein in them) can sometimes melt pretty well, but still, not that great. The Vegan Gourmet soy cheese that FYH distributes isn't totally horrible. You could try explaining your situation and asking some local pizza places if you can bring your own soy cheese; as long as it's not a health code issue and as long as you're still paying full price, they may well accomodate you... I've heard of some places doing this for people.

I personally think pizza tastes better without the cheese than with soy cheese, especially if you go to a place (like Tony's in San Marino) that has good sauce and good crust. If you can get a breaded eggplant topping (like Pizza Buona in Echo Park), that can be pretty good and add a little heft. Maybe check out Bollini's in mpk ... their crust is a little too thin for my taste, but they have a decent selection of toppings.

You could also try Zelo's in Arcadia; they have a cheeseless pie with a lot of vegetable toppings. I personally wasn't very impressed.

If you want to try a VERY non-traditional pizza, you could check out Native Foods pizzas if you happen to end up around Westwood Village area (or near any of their other locations). I'm kind of a pizza snob normally, but their pizzas are enough not-pizza-like that I can eat them. They have some with a soft nut-based cheese, and also make liberal use of other flavorful toppings like pesto. When you're craving cheese, you're really mostly craving the glutamate, salt, and fat, so I usually try to find toppings that have some or all of these components.

Not in the SGV, but I'm pretty sure Damiano's (on Fairfax) has soy cheese pizza.</content>

<content>Also not in SGV, but Abbot's Pizza Co (there's one in Santa Monica and one in Venice) does a soy cheese pizza. I've never tried it, but I've heard it's good.</content>
