Lively bar scene small plates after work party?

My daughter came home from work today with an assignment to plan a small birthday party for her boss after work this Friday. He is older but wants a lively bar scene with some food-small plates fine or appetizers-and a good happy hour. There will be a group of 8-10 people. Parking would be a plus. She was thinking of North Beach Iluna Basque,Mission Barbambino or Medjool, Castro/Market Mecca. Also Le Colonial,Brick,Bar Crudo if not too pricey ? Work is near Civic Center. Where would you go? Suggestions would be so appreciated. Thanks so much she is feeling desperate.

Thanks so much for your help. Reporting back that we ventured off to Bossanova after work last night-close so we walked over. Great caipirinha's and ceviche which was a hit. Lively crowd especially on a Friday night. We went early so it was easier to get in. I had tried before at a later time and there was over an hour wait to have dinner. Thanks again.

      Near Civic Center, maybe Bossanova.

For a lively happy hour scene, if the weather stays nice like it is today, Americano at Hotel Vitale is your spot. They've got small plates and the outside patio gets packed.

Bar Crudo won't work for 8-10 people standing around, it's absolutely tiny without really a bar area. Brick, Coco500, Nopa, and Two all have great small plates and drinks but again don't have a bar area so much as a bar and seating.

He might like Circa in the Marina? Definite bar area, small plates, crowded but I don't think he would feel too old to be there?

The back patio at Bin 38 could also work if it's sunny, if they're okay with beer and wine only.

Chaya on Embarcadero could also work, especially if he's older, more of a Financial District crowd. That may be my first choice actually. :-)
