Carson Area restaurant recommendations please

muzikgeye Apr 1, 2008 10:42 PM

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of some good restaurants in the Carson area. Specifically, I am looking for somewhere to eat as an alternative to the Home Depot Center. I love Jay Bee's BBQ , Paradise (is this one still open?) and also El Pollo Inca is close by. Any others that are casual for a sporting event, but can be quick for a bite before game time? Thanks

Are you travelling from Carson? Because, otherwise, I suggest you extend your range from your origin to your destination . . .

Oh my, anything other then Carson I have no problem with (and I am usually coming from the West Side) It's just that when you are in a hurry, you try to get to Carson first, and then choose a neighborhood restaurant. So I understand the paucity of selections in the area, but still, there are nice ones that will do in a pinch.

Depot in Torrance. It's great, and close by.

Yes Depot is great, but not close enough to the Home Depot Center, and defineately, not casual; I would dress up to go there. Thanks anyway.

Bodacious Q near Cal State Dominguez is great for ribs, esp the St. Louis.
Back Home Lahaina for Hawaiian plate lunch. I recommend the Hawaiian fried chicken with chashu fried rice.

Big Burger has some really good turkey (and beef) burgers. Korean operated, hand formed patties, available with bacon and egg. Very affordable.

R & R Soul Food has all the typical southern style soulfood (used to be a branch of M&M) except the ribs themselves. huge portions.

Beyond the above listed, you're completely out of luck. I've been doing the search for the last 7 months and this is basically it unless you want chain-food at the Southbay Pavillion.

I go to CSUDH and I agree that the burgers at Big Burger are really good.

The local politicians seem to like Sizzler.

Should you really trust Carson politicians? I mean about food or anything? See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp3B-e... No knock on Sizzler, but just saying Carson politicians really do not have Chowhound credibility . . .
