Racer 5 On Tap?

roberto90071 Apr 1, 2008 09:10 PM

For those of you who don't know this fantastic IPA, my apologies. Anyway, I'm trying to nail down a list of bars that feature this beer on tap. Evidently, it's no longer featured at The York. The only other place I know is Father's Office, but it's a little too far west for regular trips. Redwood Bar downtown has 22's, but I'm after the draught...

I would give the Library Alehouse a call. Pretty sure I saw racer 5 last time I was there. Lucky Devil's in Hollywood had it as well.

I am not a hop head, so I don't look for that one, myself.

Other places to try are Lucky Baldwin's and the Delerium Cafe, the Yardhouse (OK, not my fave, but they have so many beers, theymay have it), MAAYYYBE BJ's. McG's may have it. Naja's in Redondo Beach is a good bet, and you may want to try Stuffed Sandwich.

I higly reccomend you get the Beer Guppy's guide to LA, written by a local beer geek!

I'm not sure of all the places that carry Bear Republic.. but the guide will give you a good list of places to call.

Otherwise, call Bear Republic yourself and ask for their disrtibutor, then ask the distributor where it's at.

Naja's in Redondo definitely has it, as does Bad Dog Alehouse in El Segundo. Actually, that may be the ONLY reason to go to Bad Dog.

I'm pretty sure I saw it on the menu at Crow Bar in Corona del Mar this weekend.

The Village Idiot on Melrose had it when I was last there--about 6 months ago.

best bet is lucky baldwins, lucky devil's in hollywood, or library bar in downtown. Aside from that, you will have to come west to Fathers Office or Najas.

Najas has a crazy IPA called westcoast something. It is similar to Ruination ale by Stone. Deliciously bitter in the spirit of Racer 5!

boneyard bistro in the valley has tons of great IPAs, but I dont know if it is on tap or not.

Pizza & Such in Claremont (barely LA County, I know) has Racer 5 and other good local microbrews, like 2 from Dale Brothers. Delicious Dr. Bob's ice cream too. Unfortunately the pizza is only so-so.
