can you recommend a lunch spot within walking distance of Met Museum? We went to Cafe Zabarsky yesterday, which we enjoyed, but would rather not repeat that experience. We'd love a fairly efficient place that might get us in and out in 45 min or so. budget: roughly $15 pp before tax and tip.

You could share pizza and salads at Serafina (Mad & 79th). And I also like the cafeteria in the Met basement, the salad bar is actually very good.

If you are going to the Met, the cafeteria down stairs is really quite good - nicely prepared food. You could also walk over to Madison and go to Nectar Coffee Shop at 82nd Street, or to Pain Quotidien at 84th.

2nd the Met Cafeteria - it's in the basement- and really quite nice since it's been redone.

The atmosphere isn't the greatest - you do feel as if you are in the basement, but, as I said, the food is good. I remember enjoying the salmon I had there.

If you're willing to up your budget, there's the Petrie Court Cafe on the main floor of the Met. The food is very good, service is efficient, and the large, airy space looks out on Central Park.
