Calgary Airport [Moved from Canada board]

bevo Mar 31, 2008 07:42 PM

I will be travelling through the Calgary airport next week and will have a couple
of hours between flights and would like to know what restaurant or food stall
is recommended to have a decent meal. I realize airport food is not always of
the best standard, but sometimes we are surprised.
Thanks for any suggestion.

I would leave the airport and go to the hotel for something better to eat.

I noticed a Cha Chi's the last time I was there. It is a sandwich shop

I've had decent food at their other location in TD Square.

It is located on the departure level, in the public concourse near Gate D

Nice to see them grow- good product (not mind-blowing but good) and great branding.

Are you travelling internationally or nationally? The gates if you're travelling within Canada have a Jugo Juice that has good sandwiches and smoothies. The international gate choices are poor -- there is a Starbucks -- pretty decent sandwiches and baked goods, Harvey's Hamburgers and Tim Horton's and a no-name bar.

If you want to leave the gates and go through security, you can go to Montana's which has passable food (ribs, burgers, steak) but if you only have a couple of hours you probably won't have the time for a sit-down meal. There is also a food court with fast food choices. The Delta Hotel has a very good restaurant, but again, it looks like you won't have the time.

In general, the food choices are poor for a Chowhound at Calgary International , it pales in comparison to SeaTac and SFO.

Agreed- it's funny how after renos six or so years ago I thought YYC was a superb airport but others' amenities, at least food-wise, leave us in the dust. A panini and some fresh OJ/Carrot from Jugo is a great repast- if you're in the right area. Foodcourt has Sbarro which can be okay, and O'Cha has serviceable Japanese curry but the sushi looks crappy.

However, one thing about YYC that is SUPERB is that its prices (for food and non-food, books and such) is the same as in the rest of the city.

Same prices indeed. Overpriced, and overly expensive :)
