I'm desperate. I need a restaurant for a group of 12 after the Gypsy matinee on this Wednesday, April 2. Theater is 246 W. 44th St. Looking for something nearby similar to Marseilles. How is Cafe Un Deux Trois?

Thanks!!!

  1. Hate to answer my own question, but . . . I found availability at Trattoria Trecolori.

The others I was considering: West Bank Cafe, Pigalle, Gaby's, Resette and Cafe Un Deux Trois. So bummed Marseilles cannot take us as it is a favorite of mine.

What's the best of the lot mentioned above? Want to keep the price moderate/similar to Marseilles.

Trattoria Trecolori is a favorite of mine and many other Hounds. Well-prepared homestyle Italian fare is served by a friendly, efficient staff in a large space with very attractive decor.

West Bank Cafe is another of our favs in that area. Delicious New American cuisine, excellent service, and very pleasing ambiance.

We've had several lunches at Gaby, and the French cuisine was very good. My husband and I still drool whenever we recall the fabulous profiteroles. However, those meals were not recent, so I have no idea if the quality is still the same.

As for Un Deux Trois, we ate there several years ago, and the food was just s-so-so. Not a place I'd return to or recommend.

We've not been to Pigalle, which has the same ownership as Marseille but doesn't reap the same high praise, or Resette.

        Trecolori is an excellent alternative.
Etcetera Etcetera is only 3 blocks away.

Thank you! Thank you! I am pleased Trecolori could give us a large table on Wednesday.

Will look forward to trying West Bank Cafe another time as the TT location is actually more convenient.

I'm sure you will like Trecolori.

Enjoy the show and Buon Apetito!

You can skip Pigalle at all times and won't miss a thing. Have tried it twice now at different times of the day and find it dull and unremarkable in every way. It's hard to believe that it's the same ownership as Marseille.
