Where can I bring my own wine in Arlington?
I have a date with a really cute red head this week and would like to pick a restaurant where I can bring some wine for the occasion. Does anyone have some suggestions in the Arlington area? Also for future reference, what places allow you to do this in D.C.?
Virginia laws prohibit restaurants with liquor licenses to allow BYOW (except, I think, in private dining situations). However, there are a great number of restaurants in Washington DC that allow this. Most of them, in fact. Just pick the DC restaurant and give them a call, chances are they will allow it for $15 to $30 corkage fee per bottle.

There's an excellent Vietnamese Restaurant in Arlington that allows you to bring your own wine. It's a stand alone on Wash. Blvd. (I think). I'll check on the name and report back.

It's called Little Saigon. Correction, it's technically Falls Church, on Wilson Blvd. on the border of Arlington. My brother, who's utlra serious about both wine and food, loves this place. I went once and really enjoyed it. If I remember correctly, their corkage fee is minimal. Sounds like they may be breaking the law, so I suppose I shouldn't be advertising this!

Um, yeah, they are breaking the law. See ABC 4.1-315:

AFAIK, there is NO byob in VA. Here's a close second which is nearby-Evening Star in Del Ray allows you to buy wines from their adjacent store, Planet Wine for a very low fee over the store price.
Please to call them to confirm, but I believe they still do this.

I believe Tallulah is also adjacent to a Planet Wine and may have a similar offer.

In DC I believe Charlie Palmer will allow you to bring wine, I don't know there exact corckage fees and policy. I thought it was something like maximum 2 bottles of domestic wine will have no corckage fee?
I thought Dino might allow corckage, but I am really unsure about that one.

Charlie Palmer indeed does allow you to BYOW with zero corkage fees, limit 2 bottles of DOMESTIC wine per table. Dino also allows BYOW, with a reasonable corkage fee (I think it is $20).
