I just caught the short segment with Liane Hansen. He was on to plug his "Eating on Asphalt" book that just came out. She went through some of the salient spots that he'd visited on his trip up the Mississippi river. Talked some barbecue, talked about how the alligator farm in Louisiana freaked him out, especially when the owner went to get the frozen nutria to feed the alligators and the alligators were eyeing him like he was dinner.

He said a couple of the places they went to had burned down since they were there.

They did say that the "Eating on Asphalt" idea is on hold, he is working on "Eating on Waves".

I like his show but sometimes I think he goes overboard with all of his props. I guess I just like the straigh cooking tv shows you learn so much more. Julia Child will always be my favorite.

..and who better than Julia Child to make a chicken her prop! Gosh the parodies that followed and continue to this day over her naked bird on the counter top. Julia was way ahead of the curve.
