Good lunch in Petaluma

Dear folks~MIL has major opthalmologist's appointment on Monday. She lives in Napa and loves good food. Where can we take her for lunch in Petlauma?

We love Volpe's but that's not the place for her.

My favorite lunch place in Petaluma is Water Street Bistro. To me, it's a cross between a deli and a cafe and the food is great (owner/chef has credentials). I think it's open on Monday, but check. The menu is spread across multiple wall boards and it takes a while to absorb it all. It's right at the Petalma River and there's a patio for nice days.

I completely agree with Mick--Water Street Bistro. Between the incredible soups and salads you can't go wrong. I was always very partial to the chicken muffuletta until Stephanie put a fantastic Reuben on the menu. You will not be disappointed.

I've never eaten at Water Street Bistro myself, but I have heard raves from reliable sources that I know.

I also agree with Mick. The food is wonderful. Last time I ordered two bowls of soup, the first time that's ever happened. Water Street Bistro is a rarity and worth a long drive to get to.

Eating out on Mondays is always an issue.
Volpi's is closed for lunch on Monday anyway, but I am curious why its not for her?

For Italian: Sugo, Cafe Giostra, or Cucina Paradiso.
Sushi: Gohan
Gastropub/microbrewery: Dempsey's
Thai Food: Banyan Tree
Mediterranean: Arams
