Restaurant recommendations in Porto

solanaceae Mar 27, 2008 02:13 PM

Given to me by a friend who grew up in the city. Went to the first two and was very impressed, especially by D'Oliva which managed to be hip, gourmet, and affordable all at one time - especially when the owner (unknown to me) gave me his seat at the bar while we briefly waited for our seat.

Cafeína - restaurant, considered by many one of the best. Info and address in site (http://www.cafeina.pt/

D’óliva – restaurant, one of my favourites, info in portuguese (http://no-prato.com/doliva-al-forno/

Bazaar – lounge bar, used to be cool. Address -rua cais das pedras, 13 porto (www.bazaar.com.pt <http://www.bazaar.com.pt/>). It’s in the Web at the end also

Praia da luz – good for a drink in the afternoon if the weather is good (http://www.lifecooler.com/edicoes/lif...

Ribeira de Gaia - just choose one of the restaurants, bars, esplanades, new part of the city, cool place. Near the port wine cellars where you’re going. (http://portonorte.blogspot.com/2006/1...)

Thanks so much for this information. I will be there for a few days in April and will take note of your recommendations.

I would say that at the moment the best restaurant in Porto is Foz Velha (at the mouth of the Douro): www.fozvelha.net
