Rec needed: After-work dinner & drinks. Downtown

Hello all,

I've been asked by my colleagues to organize an after-work evening of drinks and dinner.
We work downtown (Yonge & College) but we're willing to travel on the Yonge subway line.

I tried to call beerbistro, but they're already booked up! (We're talking mid-April!)

That's my usual go-to place... so now I don't know what to do.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Criteria: good food, social atmosphere, not too expensive, on the Yonge subway line.

Thanks in advance!

The Abbott on the Hill looks promising. Is that at Summerhill station?

The Abbott is at Summerhill and Rebel House is at Rosedale Station. Either are perfect when it's Beer O'Clock.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (as in lots of recommendations for this place) - I really like Jamie Kennedy (At Church and Front) - not too far from Union Station

It's been a little while since I have been to the bierbistro, but I seem to recall the pricing to be similar - please correct me if I am wrong

I always find the wines and food great - I have never been disappointed

            bierbistro at King & Yonge
            biermarkt is on the Esplanade
I guess neither is too far from JKWB

I have tried to avoid biermarkt as it somehow reminds me of an adult version of the Brunswick House from my UofT days...

The one at Yonge and King is "beerbistro". Only "biermarkt" spells it with the "ie"

There's also the Bow & Arrow, great beer selection and better-than-average pub fare. On Yonge right near Davisville subway station.

I work at Yonge and College too...so I thought I'd let you know about walking distance places. We often go to Pogue Mahones (not super amazing, but decent - always crowded after work though so make a reservation). Also, we head to Hair of the Dog on Church - food there isn't bad.
Rebel House is awesome though, so I second that rec - much better food than the above mentioned.

              Rebel House sounds great!

I also thought about Hair of the Dog but I think it might be too small for the group.

I don't think biermarket is quite the venue we're looking for.

Does JKWB serve alcohol other than wine? I haven't been in a while. But great rec!

HOTD will often reserve the entire upper level for us when we'll have quite a crowd. How many people are you talking about - Rebel House is not huge.

You might be able to reserve the entire 2nd floor of Rebel House with that many people.
