Hamburger Hamlet to be purchased

  • m

14 units currently held by Prandium (Chi-Chi's & Koo Koo Roo) are being sold to Latin Intellectual Properties (owners of the Conga Room & La Boca Restaurant). Maybe they will kick it up a notch.

  1. I have been going to "the Hamlet" for about 40 years and hope they stay in business. The place is not the same as many years ago, when I think the burgers and the buns and fries were better. But it is still a good place to go for a burger and a bowl of lobster bisque, and something from the bar.

I am not impressed with some of the trendy type items that have appeared on their menu in the last few years, but if you are careful, you can pick and choose from the menu and get a decent meal. And there is this one waitress in the Pasdena location that I suspect may be one of the originals (she would have been very young back in the day, though), and she is so good to the Mrs. and I, even when she is not our assigned server, she makes sure we are happy.

Haven't been in years, but I have good memories about this place. Good omelets, burgers, tin-roof sundaes, and I have a vague recollection that they used to make a pretty good fried chicken platter. I hope the new owner does a good job with this franchise.

The place lost me when they took that fantastic giant slice of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and tasty chocolate icing and re-worked the recipe. Total disaster, it was.

And the hostess at the West Hollywood location was married to Miles Davis! Pretty cool, huh? She's really lovely.

Well, maybe the new ownership will be able to improvise like Miles and we'll all live happily ever after.

      3. Do you mean Emeril-ize it? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

        1. Is that the same Hamburger Hamlet I used to go to in Washington DC in the late 1970s? With the Zucchini Zircles?

          1. You might be interested to know that Chi Chi's, the only profitable unit of Prandium, was sold by them 2 years ago. Pranduim stock (PDIMQ), which you could have purchased at $11.00 per share two years ago is now worth exactly $.004 per share.
            Go there while you can.
