Great takeout between South San Francisco and San Jose

I'm planning a night out at a drive in movie theater down in San Jose, and want to pick up some great food along the way to eat in the car at the theater. I'll be coming from SSF and can either take 101 or 280. Any ideas on good dinner takeout to eat in the car? I would love to pick up some cheeseboard or gregoire, but unfortunately not on the way...

I second La Bamba. Also, just off the 101 near the movie theaters is the Falafel & Kabob. Decent reviews on Yelp.

Here is a list of all the restaurants in downtown San Mateo. Take the 3rd Ave off-ramp, going west. Just after you cross the railroad tracks you'll hit downtown San Mateo. Lots of places on B St. which crosses 3rd right after the railroad. To go back to the freeway, just go back using 4th (not 3rd) and you're right there. Takes less than 5 min either direction.

Not sure where the theater is, but my favorite take out along that route is Mexican or south indian (although the latter doesn't travel very far). La Bamba (Mountain View), Madras Cafe (sunnyvale) are good bets. La Bamba is very close off of 101, Madras a bit further out but there are plenty of Indian stops along that route. Maybe someone will have something closer to San Jose for you though.
