Montreal (Plateau): "Yoshi Sushi" 1601 Laurier ??

I couldn't find much about this place, but several locals du Plateau (one of whom I trust) RAVED about this place. Someone told me it's "the best" in M'real - well, maybe they like it - I'm worried about 'neighborhood bias,' now. LOL I've walked past it a number of times, but never looked carefully at the menu (no time! Must get to Maison du Roti!) And my CH Search failed.

I've been to Est-Asie in the Village several times; always a funky menu (from a provincial Bostonian's POV), trendy diners, in a swanky space.

But maybe the Chowhounds would recommend one or two of their 'Top Sushi/Fusion' restos (qualified any way you choose) within a 3km walking distance from Parc La Fontaine?

Thanks again!

Ain't been to Yoshi Sushi but am surprised no one has mentioned Tri Express. Not as fusiony as the excellent Jun-i but definitely New Wave and kinda funky.

Near the limits of your walking requirements is Jun-i on Laurier W. Fantastic and imaginative sushi with french influences.

to add to that, the sushi are more or less "traditional" sushi, but the rest of the menu is very french ( and italian the last time I went) with some japanese influences.

        all is very good.

Thank you both! I only indicated "3kms" because I prefer to be on foot and keep it reasonably 'local.' Not a hard-&-fast requirement, however, because I am a city-walker.

I've eaten at a trendy place downtown ("Sho-Dan" maybe?) and I found it a very inventive fusion - richer than what you find in NYC, and way beyond almost anything in boringly trad Boston, unfortunately.

I find hijiki on the menues more often, in Montreal sushi joints.
