Santa Cruz Restaurants?

We'll be visiting Santa Cruz in mid April. Any suggestions for a nice place to eat? Any comments on Bittersweet Bistro, Shadowbrook? Oswalds? Others?

Also, looking for an Italian or Asian restaurant the night before the Half Marathon, nothing fancy, just something tasty!

Bittersweet - VERY expensive. Terrible service. Rude owner/managers and passable food.

Shadowbrook - Expensive but with bargains, GREAT service, great food.

Carusos - Expensive, GREAT service, GREAT food, owner/manager onsite.

No disrespect intended, but has their been a change in the kitchen? General consensus for the past many years is go for the view, cocktails, and maybe an app or two, but dine elsewhere. Please share any details of the great dishes you found. TIA

Shadowbrook's lounge has half-priced pizza and appetizers on Fridays between 4:00 and 6:00. It's a good deal.
