2009 Wedding Hudson Valley, Westchester
Hi All,
I am looking to have a wedding next Spring (Hoping for May 2009). There will be approximately 115-150 people. I am looking for a unique location within one hour from the city; I prefer something on the water and would like a place that also offers on site accomodation(if possible) . The key is I really do not want to spend more then $125/ person (including tax and grat) though. So far, I have come across Highlands Country Club ($110 pp) and am going to see that on Saturday.
I have also looked into Mohonk and Harvest on the Hudson, scenery wise they are both great but the only con is they do not do night weddings. My crowd likes to party so the place will have to be amenable to that. I am also open to reception ideas in the city but do not think that it is feasable at this price point. Any b & b's or Mansions or Estates or restaurants even that can be recommended would be greatly appreciated! My top 2 criterion (besides price) is great food and nice scenery.
Again any all feedback is appreciated. Thanks :)

I spoke to Nancy yesterday who handles events at The James House. She said the site fee is $1,900 and all catering is separate. She was supposed to send a list of caterers but I haven't gotten it yet. Nonetheless, $1,900 seems like a VERY good site fee though. I did some research though and came across a blog that said Condo's were built behind the house which blocks the view and that the house is very near the Hospital. I think I may check it out anyway as I feel my options are few and far between.

Thanks for replying! That is reasonable...I spoke with a caterer who does events there - Corner Stone catering based in Rye, NY. His food looked incredible (although I did not taste it...) You should check him out... I think his prices were about $140 for a sit down dinner, but that included tax and tip, but not alcohol - you would bring your own... Let me know what you think after you see the James House!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I've looked into the Wainwright already and Mohonk. Mohonk looks beautiful but I was told they only do day weddings (same w/ Harvest on the Hudson). I will look into these other suggestions; James House especially looks beautiful! I am waiting to hear back from them w/ info. I can post if anyone is interested. Thanks again for all suggestions!

Try the James House in Sleepy Hollow it is a Mansion located on the Phelps Memorial Hospital Property. You rent the place from them and then contract with one of their caterers. It has views of the hudson. There is also the Scarsdale Women's Club - same deal - rent the place and bring a caterer in. Good luck.

We had similar numbers to you and criteria-- Although it's not on the water, the food, scenery (minus the water) and price all fit the bill at Round Hill near woodbury commons. Check out the website at Feast Caterers. It has a lot of character and Peter and Laura are wonderful to work with. Good luck!
