My parents want to take my boyfriend and I out to dinner on Thursday...We are trying to figure out where to go. My parents live around the Brentwood/Santa Monica area and my boyfriend and I are around Burton/Robertson area, so we can go in either direction...I just want to pick somewhere with great food and ambience that will make us all feel comfortable!!! Do you have any good suggestions??
Here are a few of our thoughts, feel free to suggest some more!:
Joe's
Comme Ca
Vicenti
Angelini Osteria
La Terza
AOC

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I think that we are going to end up going to Angelini Osteria..it is one of my dad's favorites. We will try these other places next time!

I've done a couple parent meals at Pane e Vino, and now with this gorgeous summery weather, the patio is stellar!

I took my parents to a lovely dinner at Jar last time they visited. The service and food were wonderful (without being stuffy.) Jar can be a little loud if the dining room is full. You may want to request one of the tables located in the corners or back by the bar area if this your parents prefer a more quiet dining experience. Angelini Osteria has great food, but it's really tiny inside. The tables are super close together and it's also a little loud. Another place that my parents have enjoyed when they have visited is Napa Valley Grille in Westwood. The food is solid, with some standouts, and a fantastic wine list, of course.

Whist at the Viceroy is my suggestion.

Jar or Luques or Grace are all great, but depends on your definition of too fancy.

It sounds like hotel dining will fit the bill - have you considered The Peninsula, Four Seasons, or Hotel Bel-Air?

Screaming in a busy restaurant just to maintain conversation is not my idea of a good time. Hotels are a bit more sedate.

I would add Lucques and Josie to your list. Both would be great for a dinner with parents.

I second these recommendations and also think Joe's is a great option.

                        Comme Ca is kinda loud.

                        I like Angeli Caffe
                        Spago
                        Grace
                        AOC is good
                        Joe's is Good
Chez Mimi in Santa Monica is nice
                        Wilshire is good

What is your budget? Any food no-nos?

Not really a budget, but nothing too fancy. My dad doesn't eat sushi..but other than that, anything! Thanks for the great suggestions!

I probably wouldn't head out to AOC w/ my parents. It's more fun to people watch than eat there.
