spicy grated carrot salad? recipe help needed

I used to get this salad at Mon Ami Gabi in Las Vegas before they hired a new chef. It was just grated carrots in a fantastic "dressing". After the new chef was hired, i asked a server about it and she told me all it was was grated carrots, champagne vinagrette and "spices".
This salad was spicy but not overwhelmingly so and every attempt to recreate it has been awful.
Any suggestions?

    1. A Japanese version is grated carrot & grated daikon dressed with a sugar & vinegar mix. Could add chile flakes. The daikon gives the dish a better "bite" than carrots alone; and the while and orange looks great!

      1. There is a recipe for Morocan [sp] salad which is quite spicy.

        1. I make a carrot-raisin salad sometimes with a harrisa dressing: make a vinagrette with some harrisa, cumin, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil; pour over julienne carrots and some raisins; garnish with cilantro.

            Ooh, I like the sound of that. I love harissa.

          2. I asked when we ate there and I was told it is Champagne vinegar, honey, and red pepper. I didn't get the proportions, and I have been unable to duplicate the recipe.
