Almare Gelateria

Ever since my husband and I returned from Italy, we've been searching the Bay Area for sorbet as creamy and pure in flavor as the sorbet we had in Rome. I'm happy to report that we've finally found it! The sorbet at Almare, near the downtown Berkeley BART station, is unbelievably delicious. So far, I've tried pear, strawberry, mango, grapefruit and a flavor called Ace, which is a mix of carrot, orange and lemon. All have been clean and true to the flavor of their respective fruits.

I've been too happy eating the sorbet to try the gelato, but my husband says that it is equally delicious.

    1. Thanks for the report. I'll have to get over there. Curious to see if you tried Gelato Firenze and how it compared.

Also, while I'm not a fan of Naia a few doors over, how do you feel that compares?

After returning from a trip to Torino where I got to eat gelato from places like GROM (Slow Food city) or Silvano, Naia was a huge disappointment. IMO, it just lacked the potency and consistency I would have expected of them.

Is this where the old Gelato Milano was?
