What's the place in Berkeley that has gelato/ice cream in unusual flavors, including Horlix (malt)?

Any tips from people who have been there recently would be appreciated.

Sketch on Fourth? I don't know about Horlix.

It's definitely not Sketch. I finally made a special trip there and I don't get what the fuss is about or even how Sketch stays in business. Soft serve ice cream in two or three very basic flavors. Nothing wrong with it, but I was disappointed.

Sketch's flavors are limited this time of years because they use seasonal produce exclusively. When berries come into season in a few weeks, their offerings will become more exciting.

In my opinion, it used to be MUCH better before they put in the soft serve machines. Now, the servings seem smaller, there's not as many choices and the darned ice cream melts WAY too fast. Having said that, I still love Ruthie and Eric and often go there just to see them.

I was just throwing it out there. In all honesty, I don't like ice cream at all.

You and I may be the only two on this board that would admit to that.

For purpose of searching, it's spelled Horlicks. It's a British malt drink popular in Hong Kong and Singapore, so Asian oriented ice cream/gelato places are most likely to have this flavor. I've seen in at Yoogo Gelato in SF Chinatown, but I don't know the Berkeley scene.

Best guess would be Naia on Shattuck.

I agree it's Naia too. They make a Horlicks gelato as well as a Milo one.

We had malted vanilla ice cream at Ici in Berkeley about a month ago. Not bad. Went again today, but alas, closed for Easter.

Ici also has been making a malted banana flavor that is delish!
