I-24 to St. Louis, I-70 to Abilene, KS

I-24 to St. Louis, I-70 to Abilene, KS is how we will be traveling from metro Atlanta to central Kansas. We are planning a trip again in June, but do not know where we will be at meal times. Therefore, any suggestions for good casual places are welcome - preferably within a mile of our interstate route.

If you like wine and great views, stop at Les Bourgeois, eat either at the A-frame or the Blufftop Bistro.

If you are in Columbia at meal time, don't be tempted to eat at the highway restaurants. Downtown Columbia is a mile south down Providence and there are a number of good choices. Ernies, Shakespeares, Booches, Sycamore, Main Squeeze, Bangkok Gardens, Flat Branch, Smokin' Chicks, Sub Shop.

Shakespear's Pizza in Columbia,MO is very well known. It is not one mile off the interstate, but also not that far.
There is a great hole in the wall chicken place called King Edwards that is a mile or two off of the Zumbehl exit in St. Charles MO just west of St. Louis.
Also. Crown Candy is a few miles off the interstate in St. Louis city. A St.Louis institution.

My # 1 recommendation is 17th Bar and Grill in Marion, IL. Get the ribs. You can search online for Mike Mills, the owner, who is a 3 time grand champion at Memphis in May. There's also a location in O'Fallon, IL.
