Dessert & coffee
Sometimes after a delicious meal, I like and hour or two before dessert. I miss the availability of fantastic evening spots where one can enjoy a special baked good and some espresso found in east coast cities. Does LA have anything like this? Anything on the westside? Sometimes I just take a dessert 'to-go' from the restaurant I've had dinner and have it at home hours later but that's not really the same experience.

Especially with warm weather coming, trying the outside bar seating area at Craft in Century City. It is a really lovely space and you can order off the Craft dessert menu (without incurring the expense of eating a full meal at Craft or the hassle of reservations). If you self-park in the huge lot rather than valet, parking is free.

re: omotosando
That's a great idea! The Craft dessert menu is really quite excellent, what with all the different ice creams and gelatos and sorbets and parfaits and souffle and on top of all that, lovely composed desserts and various fruits and cheeses. But are you sure the entire dessert menu is available? I looked at the bar menu on our last dinner at Craft (3/1/08 so fairly recently) and I seem to recall that the dessert choices were somewhat abbreviated. Hopefully I am recalling incorrectly.

re: Debbie W
I think they do have a "bar" menu, but if you ask, you can get the regular menu at the bar. I had dinner at the bar in January and we ordered off the regular menu. They don't appear to have much of a bar "scene", at least on weekends, so perhaps they were more accommodating because the bar was practically deserted. I hope it stays that way - eating at the bar was lovely. A very comfortable table, excellent service. Basically, the whole Craft experience without having to bother with reservations. I think it would be a splendid place for dessert if you live in the area, including the free parking if you are willing to brave the big parking structure.

LA does have something like this, unfortunately it's not on the West side as it's called KOREATOWN. ;)
