Of course it's a publicity event (stunt is such an ugly word). The restaurant is closed, a new cookbook has just come out, and they're going to use a 1-day opening to promote the book. C'est la vie...those who are fans will be thrilled to get an opportunity to visit with the Uglesichs, those who aren't can stay home. I can't say that I'd hire them to plan a party menu and supervise the food production so they could sell cookbooks at my private event (a service described later in the press release), but I can imagine that a corporate event planner/meeting/convention planner might go for this sort of thing.
