If you can change your reservation, I recommend Geoffrey's over Granita -- outdoors, fabulous view, good food. If you've not been, it is on PCH north of Granita. Granita is good -- it's just that it is another indoors restaurant (yawn) -- Malibu is for sitting outdoors, taking in the view, rays, and ambience.

I was JUST THERE! HORRIBLE! My friend was celebrating his purchase of his new 7 mil house and let me just say Geoffreys' was worst than ever!!!!! No, the worst food ever in 2002. We've been there many time before but this is a new low.

Maybe it's me, but I am not sure if you are panning Geoffrey's or Granita? And, no matter which one, what was wrong with the food? HORRIBLE is a pretty strong adjective to throw out in caps with out some additional specifics.

Geoffrey's was Horrible, from beginning to end. No other way to describe it. Most incredible View with the worst food, what a bummer.

Agreeing with the posts, I would have brunch at Granita, then head to Geoffrey's for an afternoon cocktail, coffee/dessert. The view and the setting is one of the best on the Pacific coast -- and given my predilection for outdoor dining -- I find it the absolute best. (Hotel Bel-Air ranks a close second, but no ocean view.)

I went there for Easter brunch with a party of 5. Everyone was delighted with both the food and the service. I was not into the decor, but the food makes it worth going, despite the lack of a view. I recall that the lobster sandwich was pretty awesome, and I wish I could remember the other things - 2 egg dishes, specifics evade me - but I'd go back in a heartbeat. The bread basket alone was incredible.
