Levittown - good Mexican - Cinco de Mayo
Was looking for the Indian buffet at the corner of Woodbourne and Oxford Valley Rds that was called Sartaj and then Flavors of India... except now its Cinco de Mayo. A bit grungy (stains on the cardboard menus, old looking tablecloths, glass coverings on tablecloths) and some frenetic latino pop music (corazon this and corazon that). I glanced at the menu and was reassured because they serve tongue! And other horrible facial parts too. Not that I'd ever eat that but to me that means it's probably "authentic" whatever your definition of that is. Free chips and salsa kept us from eating our hands, and after about a half hour I was wishing I had brought War and Peace when finally our food came.... best tortilla I've ever eaten wrapped around some delicious steak with this and that and the other and some rice and beans. A few doors down is a Mexican grocer with lots of trans fatty tortillas and all the chilis you'll use for the next two thousand years, and some weird looking sodas.
