Looking for Restaurant no longer in The Cannery
In the late 1970s, my mom and I used to go to The Cannery in SF and get amazing crab sandwiches from a really small food cafe. It was in the courtyard across from where the musicians performed. I went back many years later looking for them and they were no longer there. This was very sad to learn. I have no idea what the place was called or if they are even in business anymore. I contacted the SF Chamber of Commerce and am waiting to hear back from them. If anyone knows about them, please leave a post. I would love to find them again.

Crivello's was located in the Cannery in a courtyard between the brick buildings. They made shrimp and crab sandwiches, which consisted of a slice of sourdough french bread, which I think was Boudin, before Boudin was a chain, a large piece of iceberg lettuce, into which was placed a heap of either shrimp or crabmeat, which was dressed generously with mayo. A second slice of french bread was placed on top. It was beyond belief good and when Crivello's closed in either the late 80's or early 90's, Herb Caen mentioned it in his column. It was a place that was worth a special trip for lunch. It was uniquely San Francisco in nature, unobtainable elsewhere and very memorable.

One of my son's favorite childhood memories was the crab sandwiches he and his dad enjoyed at the Cannery. Heard they opened a place in Marin, but we never found it. If you hear anything, please post.
