Bakery Around W. 23rd Street

I need to pick up something and I will be around that area-is there a bakery that someone can suggest? Thanks.

I second and third La Madeleine, La Bergamote, and Billy's. I just picked up some croissants and brioche from LM this morning to take home for Easter. I had a couple nibbles of the almond brioche, and it was delicious. Billy's is my favorite bakery for old-fashioned cakes and pies.

Great-thanks. Where exactly is Le Madeline?

This may be the old address, but if they moved just two doors away, shouldn't be an issue. I believe this is between 6th and 7th Avenues.

They've already moved, but I'm not sure of the exact street address. It's only a few spaces down from the old location. S side of the street.

Not sure what you are looking for - but I believe La Madeleine is on 23rd between 5th and 7th - I've heard talk that they are moving, so you might want to call first. They have lovely macarons, croissants, pain au chocolat, pastries, brioche etc. There is also La Bergamote at 9th Avenue and 20th Street.

La Madeleine is still there, but it looks like they have moved about two doors down. The bakery is now on street level, and you don't have to go down those steps. They are open today.

Definitely La Madeleine, they are lovely.

Another option is Billy's Bakery, which is 9th Avenue between 21st and 22nd. Very different from La Madeleine (LM is tres French, Billy's is more like land of the giant cake slices.)
