East Coast candy???

Transplanted New Yorker to LA. Does anyone have any idea why my two favorite candies are not available in Los Angeles??

1) Chuckles
2) Goldenberg's Peanut Chews!

used to be able to get Chuckles at that drug store on Sunset in the Pacific Palisades but no more and have NEVER seen Goldenberg's Peanut Chews out here.

thanks

    1. goldenburgs peanut chews at The Philadelphia Connection in Pasadena, it's a philly-cheesteak place. it also has tastycakes and those philly potato chips and i think a philly type of root beer.

Unfortunately, The Philadelphia Connection closed a few months ago.

          • Transplanted Californian in New York here. I think Chuckles are marketed on the West Coast as Sunkist candies. Look around for them.

              1. Chuckles are most definitely not those Sunkist candies. The sunkist ones have a different consistency and flavor.

I think I remember seeing Chuckles at Galco's. They have one section that is candy, I believe they had the individual packs with one of each flavor, you might call to check. Galcos - http://www.sodapopstop.com

You can order directly from Goldenberg Candy online http://www.goldenbergcandy.com/

                  1. On the same line - I would love to be able to find Necco 4-in-1 bars somewhere out here (Necco=New England Candy (or Confectionary) Company).

We are getting off topic now, but you might want to try Fry's Electronics. I don't know if they have 4-in-1 bars, but they do have Necco Wafers. Good Luck.

I have never seen Sky Bars out here. I just moved here in September and brought a bunch with me. Everyone I know who was originally from the east coast said they weren't as good as they remembered. The quality of chocolate is pretty low.

You can order them on line though.

Thanks Lisa - I haven't had a skybar in - oh, 30 years - so it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't as good as I remember. Now - if I can only find a source for Wise potato chips (or even State Line!).

If you find a source for State Line chips, let me know, they were getting harder to find even in Massachusetts!

                                • I found Goldenberg Peanut Chews at Rite Aid a while back - not sure if they have them all the time.

I too have very fond memories of Skybars... oh well.
