Hard baked matzoh balls
Thanks for the tip, hindyg, but those aren't it. My mother used to make them and called them "halkahs", but I've never been able to find a recipe for them. All my mother would tell me was "a box of matzo meal, some schmaltz and boiling water, and then enough eggs until it looks right. Then you bake them in 1/4" of oil until they're done." I tried to copy the recipe, but never met with much success.
