Wolfgang Puck on Sheppard?

Does anyone know if it's open or when it's opening?

They are still hoping to open in mid-October 2008, at the Sheppard location - so it's not "dead" yet. I don't know if the delay is due to the restaurant licensing process in Ontario, but I hear the process will test anyone's patience. Some things are worth waiting for...

Any word on this yet? The article also mentions a Forest Hill location...

I assume the Forest Hill location is the one on Eglinton at Braemar (one block west of Avenue Rd) where 7 numbers used to be. There has been a Wolfgang Puck sign up for a RIDICULOUSLY long time. First it was supposed to be a Wolfgang Puck Express (whatever that it), then the sign changed to Bistro. I'm sure it's been up for at least a year, with no sign of activity/opening at all. For months now, the sign has said "opening spring 2008" but, last I checked, we're into summer and still nothing... I've often wondered what the story is.

Remember people,Spring rolls and Wolfgangpuck restaurants are franchise chains, how good do you think they could be?

          Support small local restaurants.

Went to one of Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in Vegas and it was actually really good and decently priced. I support small local restaurants too but to be fair, it was pretty good.

I must say I too went to the Las Vegas location of Spago for lunch in the Caesar’s Forum and had an excellent lunch. Was very surprised as I was not expecting much. That said, not holding up tons of hope for these WP locations.

The Eglinton/Ave. Rd sign has been up for a year with zero sign of activity.

The ones in Japan have decent sandwiches.

There's a *wee* bit of difference between Spago (4 in total, destination restaurants in Luxury Resorts) and Wolfgang Puck Bistro (Several locations in upscale areas) and Wolfgang Puck Express (Fast Food/take out, multiple locations including airports)....

I'm interested to see the Bistro concept as it seems to promise seasonal menus based on what is available...

I definitely support small local places as much as I can, but the Ave & Eg WP is right around the corner from where I live. Given the relatively few restaurants in the immediate vicinity (if it's at least moderately good) I'll be glad to have another option available when I get home late from work, don't have time to cook, and don't want to travel too far afield to eat. Sometimes convenience wins out over quality.

i just assumed that it will never open on Eg and Avenue. that sign has been there forever in that pointless strip mall.

The sign has been up for 7-8 months now and it's still not open. There must be an interesting story behind it.
