food delivered for a gathering in dearborn area
As usual, I am asking for help finding a deli or restaurant that can deliver food to a family who has lost a loved one. Anyone have any ideas? I've done cold cut platters etc., in other parts of the country, but not having been in Dearborne in a couple of years, I have no clue who does that sort of thing. I know El Amir has Middle Eastern cuisine, but I don't know if they cater or deliver.
Thanks in advance.
The kicker to this is that there aren't many places in the Dearborn area that do delivery, other than pizza. For more of a catering style, you might find a few more places.
Mati's Deli on Monroe is great, and according to their web site (http://www.matisdeli.com/), they do both catering and delivery! Yay!
You might also try Dearborn Italian Bakery. They do excellent homemade Italian treats, such as deli sandwiches, pizza, pastas, etc., although I heard that the original owner/managers may have retired. They're on Ford Road. Not sure about delivery.
thanks. can't seem to link up with Mati's deli. I am now going to send some sort of meal to the home through one of the above.
Why oh why are these things so complicated when you don't live there? I'd just cook a huge roast prime rib, slice it up, put some rolls and horeseradish together and au jus, and voila, simple. Add some pasta salad and pickles, and you have a meal.
You might also contact the M&M restaurant in Dearborn. Family run, terrific home cooked meals, way above diner standards, plus Middle East options as well. I don't know if they deliver, but if you explain the circumstances I would think they would be very sympathetic and try their best to help you out. Can't go wrong on anything on the menu.
If price is no object, there's always the Ritz-Carlton--with their attention to service, I would be surprised if they couldn't assist you.
Let us know your solution.
Berkleybabe, I'm thinking of a platter of deli meats and salads that will be served cold. I thought that Shatila was good as far as pastry is concerned, but that I would rather send real food that can be picked at when family and friends are over, without anything having to be heated up.
amandaqtpie, I will look at the Westborn Market site and see what they have. A few months ago, I was on the LA chowhound, and found a really good NYstyle deli with some super food that was delivered. Pricey though.
