Fantastic Meal at Five Fifty-Five
My husband and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with dinner at Five Fifty-Five. It was practically perfect. The food just melted in our mouths, and was perfectly prepared. Also quite creative. The only change I would have made would be to serve thin slices of baguette with the cheese, rather than baguette toasts that broke when we spread the delicious Spanish goat cheese on it. Lots of nice touches, great service. Yes, it was pretty expensive by Portland standards, but worth it! And yes, the portions were small, but it was great to be able to eat a five course meal (sharing three of them with my husband) and not walk out feeling stuffed. I can see why Food & Wine honored this chef!
