Would anyone know where to find drinking chocolate in Calgary? I got a can of Schokinag drinking chocolate from CostCo for Christmas, and it's almost done... and it's so good! The shipping from the company itself is prohibitive. I wonder if there are any retail outlets that carry it, or something similar? It's like hot chocolate only so much better. Does anyone know of any? Thanks!

Costco here carries a drinking chocolate. I don't know what brand. I was wary about trying it in case I didn't like it (and, being Costco, it's a very large container). I'd love an answer to your question too; Starbucks used to make quite a nice one a couple of years back but I guess it didn't catch on.

Costco still has it? I figured it was a Christmas only thing... I'll have to go see if they have more! If it's Schokinag, it's so lovely.

I'd try Cookbook Co. for Schokinag (although Costco, if they still have it, may be cheaper).

Not sure if Ghirardelli fits the bill, but they sell it at Sunterra.

I picked up some beautiful drinking chocolate at Wholefoods in Vancouver recently - will have to check the brand & see if its available in Calgary.

If you can't find a source in Calgary. (Sorry I got curious/OCD-ish)

Here is an old-ish Toronto thread about Schokinag - a possible Canadian supplier.
http://www.chowhound.com/topics/349156
Website for the supplier http://www.legourmand.com/ but it is not mentioned on the site.

According to a blog entry, Everything Chocolate in Newmarket, ON carried it a year ago.
http://www.ontariobusinessguide.com/listings/everythingchocolate.html

An American source: http://www.chocolatesource.com/products/detail.asp?selection=712&section=10
Are their shipping charges any better?

lol I think if you can spell philistine then you aren't one ;)

"Drinking Chocolate" serves the same purpose as hot cocoa but it's kind of like having fresh brewed coffee versus instant. Drinking chocolate is made of small chocolate granules rather than a dried cocoa product.
