Best corned beef

Where the best place to buy corned beef in Boston?

I know I missed St. Patrick's day, but a cookbook I have says that corned beef and cabbage is a traditional Easter Sunday dish in Ireland (although my parents, who were born there, say they never heard of it!), so I think I'll try making some this Sunday. Where do you recommend buying it?

Cheers,
Kevin

The reason your parents never heard of it is that corned beef & cabbage is an Irish-American dish, not an Irish one. In Ireland the meat of choice would have been some form of pig, typically slab bacon. It's thought that the Irish immigrants picked up the idea of substituting corned beef over here from their Jewish neighbors.

There's a very interesting discussion on the subject on the General Chowhounding board at http://www.chowhound.com/topics/333381

I bought mine at Shaws because they had the grey Pearl brand. It was delicious!
