Ca hound in dowtown Boston
I've been reading with great interest all the chow recommednations. Tried to get into Giacomo's yesterday (early) but there were three of us (myself and 2 daughters) and it wasn't happening. Am staying at the Hyatt downtwon and happily found Peet's this morning. Couple of questions:
Is the Clover machine at the Starbucks the one that is on Federal? Inside the 1 Federal building? Or is it in a storefront Starbucks? If so, where??
Can anyone give me a chow worthy Chinese recommendation? Anywhere T accessible is fine - Chinatown is okay, but my preference is to stay close to hotel tonight if possible - so nothing at the outer limits of a T line.
TIA

The Clover machine downtown is in the office building at 75-101 Federal St, between Post Office Square and High St. It's worth a detour if you haven't tried it, though Starbucks is buying or has bought the maker of Clover so it is likely to be more widely available before long. My favorite variety of the four tried so far was the Aged Sumatra.
My long-time personal favorite in Chinatown is King Fung Garden - pretty strictly Northern Chineses food - the best scallion pancake, amazing Shanghai Chow Mein, and highly respectable/tasty homemade dumplings and Hon Sue Beef. Their Peking Duck is a frequent rave but requires advance notice (24 hours?) - not a seafood destination.

Some of my Chinatown favorites are:
New Shanghai -- great rice cakes with pork
Taiwan Cafe -- beef with poblano peppers, soup dumplings with crab and pork
Peachfarm Seafood - salt and pepper fried anything, especially the pork/squid comboIf you search on any of these you can learn more about the specialties of the house.
