Cherry Blossom Festival Food Events

Good morning,

i am looking for a fun place to eat that has delicious food that is themed for the Cherry Blossom Festival/Japanese. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please do not suggest the cruises (unless you have review of past ones).

let me know!

      Thanks! I was looking for that... should be noted, though, that those are only in the District.

      Hi Daves_32,

      If no one is looking, I suppose you could gnaw on a blossom or branch. Would that count?

          the food at the Japanese festival itself is always good, but very expensive for what you get.

            It should be noted that there are vendors at the Sakura Matsuri that sell Japanese foods such as okonomiyaki, takoyaki, and oden that are difficult (or impossible) to find in DC-area Japanese restaurants. To be honest, I didn't find the prices for these to be very expensive.

            Of course, you can also stand in line for ages for pad thai.

            Also check out this very long list of restaurants offering special menus:

              Unfortunately that list is from last year's festival - they don't seem to have updated the list for this year. Some of those places don't exist any more and a bunch more have chefs that have since moved on...

                thanks for the correction. I went to their websie and didn't even think about whether or not it had been updated. Odd that they haven't updated it since lots of tourists go to those pages for info.

              Cafe Mozu at the Mandarin Oriental has a special Cherry Blossom Themed Bento Box. While I've not had it, I'd say it should hit both the delicious and fun requirements.
