Hungarian in NYC

The family (8 in total) wants to take Mom to dinner. Looking for something comfortable and authentic. Any recommendations for Hungarian? Past posts here seem to recommend Catarinas but I have found unfavorable reviews recently posted on other sites (has me concerned). Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Andre's Cafe in the East 80s on Second Avenue serves pretty good Hungarian food. The front of the cafe looks like a bakery but there are tables in the back to seat 8 people and waitress service.

Last time I was there was about a year ago so call first to make sure they're still open (with NYC rents being what they are!)

I was at Andre's last week, so it is still open. Great, authentic food and the cakes/pastries are fabulous and not too sweet. Don't bother with Caterina's. The food was mediocre and the service was horrible.
