Hi Folks,

Anyone here do St-Patrick's day at Au Pied de Cochon? Care to post about your experience? I was stuck at work and couldn't go. Please help me live it vicariously through you. :)

    Howdy!

Saw the ad for it, but when I read that they were going to be serving green beer I realized that it was only for punters and didn't go. Sorry I can't help you.

Forty-five dollars a head for green beer? I'm hoping there was more to it than that!

The meal included a full portion of everything below and a small glass of green beer:

        salmon mousse
        shucked oysters
potato soup with bacon and cheese
main course: guinness steak pie; kidney and steak pie; a creamy baked cod dish with biscuits; and a stew
a thick slice of cheddar cheese marbled with Guinness served atop a slice of fruit cake was the final course

The food was nothing out of the ordinary but it was beyond filling for $45. I was actually stuffed by the time I finished the apps (mousse, oysters, potato soup).

It was not that bad and, as jellybelly25 said, very very filling! We really liked the oysters, the soup, the steak pie and the Guiness cheddar. The kidney and steak pie was OK, while the cod was way too salty.

But it was well worth the $45 tag (and the atmosphere was great).
