Black Duck? or other rest. near 28th & Park Ave.

Looking for restaurant nearby and that one fits the two critieria (1) have not been to before (2) between 28th & park and penn station. Has anyone been recently and have any input. Have never heard of the place. Have been to Campanille and Ilili and loved both! Also, Urena when it was still open. The menu at Park Avenue Bistro does not appeal to me and the comments about the tight seating of the banquets is off putting. I need a place that will allow us to linger as we always use dinner as an excuse to catch up. All cuisines except Chinese and Indian are fine. We like Greek, Italian, American, Mediterranean and French. Thanks for any suggestions or recs.

The problem with A Voce is if you want to sit for a while and catch up with someone, that involves talking to one another, and the noise level there gets so insanely high that having a civilized conversation becomes virtually impossible.

Les Halles is not too expensive and the food is good. It may not be a culinary experience but it is very good.

Is Giorgio's of Gramercy too south for you? The food is excellent there and you never feel rushed by the waiters.

Olana is on Madison near 28th. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is elegant, tables well-spaced, and the chairs are big and comfortable. Service is polished. Best of all it is not overly expensive, with main courses in the $25 range. The following thread has many more comments, including a post describing my meal there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I made a reservation for next week and will post my review afterwards. Menu looks good. Wonder if they will still be giving the discount then.
