Hah! I watched the video and the looks of that coffee made my mouth water. The price seems a little steep, but it's made for W-S, and they're a little high, anyway. I don't know if it makes "real" espresso or not, but it sure looks like a nice cup of coffee.

i know w-s is really (over) pricey, but i am seriously considering forking over the dough!

drawbacks (in addition to cost): it is too small to cover a small electric burner (thus, wasted energy). and it takes too long to make cappuccino for more than one person (e.g., mr. alka and me, for breakfast)

Yeah. The 10 oz. capacity is enough for a nice mug. (Who drinks out of those cups that come with dish sets, anyway?) I guess the answer is that sooner or later you're going to need two of them. Do you feel like waiting for either (a) W-S to put them on sale, or (b) W-S to have a bigger one made?

That thing looks so nice in the video, I'm afraid if I had one I'd look for excuses to use it. I'd end up not getting anything done that couldn't be done in the kitchen.

if i had that machine, i'd be o.d.-ing on cappuccino -- buzzing on caffeine and sugar.

It appears to be the same thing without the elegant glass top globe. For the extra ten bucks, I think I'd have to go for the W-S model.

I can see buzzin' from the cappuccino and the sugar in all the cookies.

I looked up some reviews on the all aluminum one, and they were favorable. A couple of people mentioned lifting the lid to see what was going on. The glass top would solve that.

Re: 6 cup I get the feeling that W-S is driving this, so a 6 cup is probably their call.

thanks for those reviews. i did not realize there was a model in all aluminum -- before our conversation here. ;-)

i still go back to the stovetop burner problem -- the pot is too small! i guess bialetti would not do an electric version.

I think you're going to talk yourself out of buying one of these and I'm going to talk myself into it. I keep going back to that video.

I have a regular aluminum one that I'm very happy with; with use the metal builds up a coating on the inside. The directions mention you should throw out at least the first three cups the first time you buy it. There's a little bit of a learning curve to make sure it's tightened down enough and things are done in the proper order, but after that it's very reliable.

I have the aluminum one and have been pretty happy with it. Definitely throw out the first half dozen attempts (and you could probably use water rather than milk for your discard batches). The small size is a little annoying, but other than that, no complaints.
